There are two à la carte restaurants, 24 degrees and The Deep End.

Most meals are taken in 24 degrees and it’s generally said to be the more casual of the two. The vaulted ornate carved ceiling makes it feel special.

The Deep End is a short walk along a jetty over the lagoon and is a Mediterranean inspired restaurant.

The thatch shades you from the last rays of the sun as you look out from your table onto one of the Maldives island resort's favourite images; the setting sun.

You can also arrange for a private dinner on the Ocean Pavilion, an isolated purpose built dining space comfortably furnished for two.

The island’s wine room is also something to see and it can be booked for private candlelit meals.

The island also provides the express laundry/dry cleaning, a lifestyle boutique, a living room with library and private in-villa à la carte dining.

If you feel the need to leave the seclusion and privacy of your villa and sun deck, you can take a dip in the fresh water Infinity swimming pool.

If you’re feeling more adventurous with your water sports the resort offers catamaran sailing, water skiing, banana riding, sea kayaking, windsurfing as well as a PADI certified dolphin base dive and water sports centre.

Out of the water you can enjoy a game of volleyball or use the fitness centre

The Taj Exotica also has a range of sightseeing tours so if the seclusion gets to you, there is escape! These tours include:

The restaurants and food are renowned for their excellent ambience and quality.

The spa is located on an adjoining island and offers an extensive range of services from facial massages and reflexology to holistic Indian therapies and deep muscle kneading.

The Taj Exotica Resort and Spa is about 15 minutes by speedboat from Malé International Airport.

Recently the flight path into Malé changed and you do find jets passing overhead; far enough away not to bother most but for some looking for island isolation perhaps not far enough.

As the island is but a stone's throw from Malé International Airport there is a preference to stay on the side of the island facing away from Malé.

This has the added bonus of being south facing and so you have the views of both the rising sun and its setting.

It can of course be hot and the north facing side of the island attracts fresh sea breezes to break the continuous heat.
