ResortMeeru Island Maldives is rated as a 4 star resort in the North Malé Atoll. But we think this is less than generous - I mean how many 4 star resorts come with TVs, room service and visits to local fishing villages?
Its Maldivian island name is Meerufenfushi. Some 50 kilometres north of Malé International Airport, it’s set apart from the rest of the resorts in the atoll.
A speedboat journey takes 60 minutes to reach the Meeru Island resort by dhoni and of course you can take the seaplane too.
Ideal For…Meeru Island is popular with honeymooners, couples and friends. The size of the island will mean that you’ll be able to find your own space on the beach and families are welcome.

58 Standard Rooms set out in groups of 4 or 5 all facing the beach, with about 20 of these having bathrooms with a partial view of the islands tropical gardens. The standard rooms are classed as 3 Star whilst the rest of the island is a sparkling 4 stars. Set back from the beaches tropical fringe a row of 77 Land Villas (pine chalets) with their wide shaded verandas stretch out into the distance. Wander down the steps and sit in the surf with your morning coffee thinking about what you want to do that day. Jacuzzi Villas with a private walled-in outdoor area featuring a Jacuzzi for two, a wooden sundeck with chaise lounges, pavilion and tropical garden. 27 Water Villas with breathtaking sea views. Sit on the balcony and listen to the breakers crash on to the reef in the distance, or step down on to the deck to sunbathe with the waves lapping gently underneath you. Inside there’s a big comfortable four-poster bed, a lounge area with armchairs and Cable TV.
Jacuzzi Water Villas are in the lagoon with a short walk along a private jetty.
Features include a large bedroom, a living room with Cable TV, a DVD player and an espresso machine! His and hers spacious bathroom with double sinks, a private sundeck with steps into the sea, plus a Jacuzzi for two!
Two Honeymoon Suites are the perfect place to really get away and enjoy your time together. The suites are reached by boat. You have all the facilities of home and I mean home! There’s a kitchenette with fridge, toaster and coffee maker. A luxurious four poster bed and spacious bathroom with bath tub.
To wake up in the morning and stretch with shafts of sunlight spilling across the deck… pull on your sunglasses and wander down the steps into warm water and have a swim before breakfast… Just fantastic and waiting for you…
