After sterling service to the tourist industry since 1988 Maldives White Sands Resort & Spa will be closing and reopening as Diva Resort & Spa this year. Hopefully the renaming will now ensure that it’s not mistaken for the White Sand Resort in Mexico!

The building and refurbishment work is current and the resort is still operating as normal though some access may be limited. As always, question your travel agent closely and get that timely information!

Ideal For…

Maldives White Sands Resort is a 4 star island popular with honeymooners, families and couples and friends.

White Sands Maldives is about a 100 km distance from Malé International Airport so that’s about 2hrs by speedboat or 30 minutes by seaplane.

The island’s one of the larger ones it's almost 2km long and quite narrow.

Bear this in mind if you're staying at the far end of the Island Village, you'll need to leave time to walk to the restaurant... but with the weather in the Maldives, it's always a stroll.

In a similar style to Kuramathi Village, Cottage and Blue Lagoon; White Sands Maldives Resort is made up of two villages, The Island Village which is not surprisingly situated on the island and the Water Village which (you’ve guessed it!) is situated over the lagoon.

The Water Village is accessed via a wooden decked jetty where the water sports are based, along with an open air restaurant. The water bungalows fan out from the jetty far into the surrounding lagoon…

The Island Village is laid out in the tree shaded centre of the island with the various rooms types located on the beach edge.

White Sands Maldives Resort Accommodation

Island Village has Beach Cottages built amongst bright bougainvillea (popular on all the islands in their red pinks and purples) and tropical gardens. They’re located either directly on or in close proximity to the beachfront.

There are 36 Beach Cottages that can sleep three. They have a large outdoor bath for relaxing in!

The Water Village houses the Water Bungalows and Suites. These have private decks with direct access into the crystal clear lagoon.

There are 44 Water Bungalows and three Water Suites that can sleep up to six people. These suites come with a larger private decked terrace and living room (that can be turned into a second bedroom).

There are also two secluded and private honeymoon Water Bungalows.

All rooms on the White Sands Resort Maldives have Air conditioning, a bathroom with toilet and shower, telephone with IDD.

The Water Village bungalows have in addition a mini bar, safe, baths, separate shower rooms and television.
