Filitheyo Resort Maldives Overview

Geographically Filitheyo Resort Maldives is located on northern Nilandhe Atoll or Faafu Atoll as it�s more commonly known. The resort lies about 120km south west of the capital Mal�. It�s a 35 minute seaplane flight followed by a ten minute dhoni ride to the islands jetty from the seaplanes landing pontoon.

Take note folks there are no speedboat journeys to the Filitheyo resort.

The island is roughly triangular in shape, bit like a sharks tooth. The surrounding shores of Filitheyo resort face east, north and southwest.

Filitheyo island resort Maldives has been developed with sustainability and protection of its environment a priority. Tropical vegetation spans the centre of this large island roughly 900m by 500m in size. A broken canopy of mature trees including coconut, palm and mangrove form an umbrella of welcome shade.

The island's house reef has good swimming and lies along the north and southwest beaches.

The accommodation is spread along the sweeping fringes of the island. The majority of living spaces on Filitheyo island Maldives are superior villas.

They seem to fit seamlessly between the interweaving trees and paths running the length of the island. Teak furniture and smooth floorboards, spacious open-air bathrooms as big as bedrooms, a slate finished hot water open air shower, private front deck overlooking the beach and timber decking with garden.

10 Superior Villas are designed to accommodate those with children with interconnecting doors between the semi-detached versions.

15 Deluxe Rooms are situated between the dive centre and the Sunset Bar. These deluxe rooms are virtually the same as the superior villas with the exception of the bathroom which has a bath partly covered by the thatch roof as well as the open air shower.

16 Spacious Water Villas sit on stilts over the lagoon up by the sunset bar. All water villas come with a private deck, whirlpool bath and steps to the lagoon for that early morning dip.

Their interiors have the same attention to contemporary interior style and detail: Lots of wood, flowing lines and elegance.

All the villas come with air conditioning as standard and of course and you have a discreet safe, mini fridge, CD stereo player and satellite TV to play with in each of the three types of villas.

The main restaurant is an award winner for its cuisine. The � la carte restaurant lies with the Sunset Bar at the western end of the island. The catering is effortless and excellent in both. The bars feel like bars on a sandy shore; miles from habitation. I reckon Ernest Hemingway would have stayed� come to that Paul Gauguin would have found a spot to paint I�m sure!

Beach barbeques seem to just happen, evening candlelit dinners unveil themselves at the waters edge and a wonderful range of local and international cuisine keeps us all enticed and expectant.
