Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives Beach Holidays Bliss!
ResortEriyadu Island Resort Maldives is rated as four stars but without undermining this great little island we would rank it a three star to three and a half stars.
For us it’s a smaller version of Kuramathi Village; popular and excellent value for money but not a four star competitor taking into account everything provided. Now read on! Eriyadu is a small island with a natural look to it. By now you know that means the island is foliage rich! It has an excellent house reef and possibly one of the best dive sites in North Malé Atoll.
Ideal For… Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives is popular with couples and ideal for couples with an interest in diving! It’s a quiet island and has a laidback feel. Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives Overview
Eriyadu Island is on the fringes of North Male atoll. That’s about 50 minutes by speedboat from Malé International Airport to the northwest of the atoll.
Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives AccommodationEriyadu Island has 57 rooms scattered around its edge. Set back from the beach the rooms hide among the trees and bushes. Eriyadu resort is a mix of semi-detached chalets and a 2 storey Maldives island hotel style block. All the rooms are simply furnished and all come with air conditioning, ceiling fan, a mini-bar (best used for your water and fruit!), IDD telephone at the bedside, a television but really you won’t need this… open-air bathroom with a bath and shower and finally your own terrace with a couple of comfortable chairs. The furnishings are somewhat aged but they serve the purpose. After all how long does a veneer wardrobe last in a tropical climate I ask you?
Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives Vacation Package Options Half board is the only option for booking purposes but a full board supplement is available from about $15.00 a day.
Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives Facilities There’s a Laundry service, Boutique and Souvenir shop (it’s the only one so prices are not cheap: Take your own lotion, mosquito spray etc). There’s Karaoke and disco (once a week) if you feel like giving twinkle toes a night out! The bar has darts and carrom. This popular Asian game is great fun and does require some skill.
Here’s what Wikipedia says about it… Carrom is played on a board of lacquered plywood, the edges of which have protective ‘bumpers’ of wood. Instead of using balls of billiard style games, carrom uses flat discs. The object of the game is to strike or flick with a finger a weighty disk called a "striker" such that it contacts the lighter discs called "carrom-men" and hopefully propels them into one of four corner pockets. The bar is a relaxed and set out under thatch over the water. The restaurant is spacious with good views. The food is buffet style food and the selection as with all the Maldives resorts is excellent. There’s a coffee shop for your afternoon snacks should you choose.
Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives Activities The Dive Centre is run by Eurodivers and has a good reputation. For many years Eurodivers used to run Reethi Rah Resort so they already know the diving around Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives. They offer on Eriyadu Island a range of PADI dive courses all ably supported and run by PADI qualified friendly knowledgeable. The house reef slopes gently out to thirty metres and has five entry points with unlimited diving available for advanced divers. Day boats do two dives in the morning and two in the afternoon. Eriyadu's isolated location means sites are generally quiet and undisturbed with around 40 dives sites within easy range of the resort. Snorkelling equipment carries a small rental charge.
The spa is small and run by Balinese therapists. Prices start from about US$60 for a one-hour body massage. There is island hopping and shopping for you holidaymakers. You can also try the deserted island trip but for some it can feel like just being left for a few hours with nothing to do. So remember, you choose your trips. See what’s on offer and book with reception.
Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives Specialities The fishing trips are popular and good value at about $25 per person. The staff bait the hooks for you if you don't fancy plunging your hands into a bucket of raw fish! There’s plenty to catch and you can even have them for dinner! Nothing like bar-be-que fish at sundown on the beach with a cold drink.
As previously mentioned the diving is excellent. As Eriyadu Island Resort is on the outer edge of the atoll the reefs remain pretty untouched and the tropical fish plentiful. There are turtles and reef sharks to be seen too.
Hmm… Anything else catch your eye? As Charley and I have pointed out elsewhere, the beaches move with the tides and seasons. Disconcerting if you return to the same resort hotel in the Maldives and find your beach simply different in shape! During the low season the west side rooms and beach are best. During the high season the beaches fan out on the north side where most of the rooms are. You get a couple of sun beds/loungers with your room numbers on so there’s no need to worry about reserving any beach space.
Enjoy your Eriyadu Island Resort Maldives holiday!
