Here’s where it’s a bit tricky… There are in fact two separate Coco Palm resorts in the Maldives (as well as Coco Palms in other countries and a Cocoa Island in the Maldives) which can be confusing. To keep it simple we’ll refer to each by its full (and often, lesser used) name; in this case. Coco Palm Maldives Dhuni Kolhu. 
This Coco Palm Maldives is on the Dhuni Kolhu Island and lies in the Baa Atoll due west of Malé International Airport. It’s about a 30 minute flight by seaplane and remember that transfers are only made by seaplane. Seaplanes transfers aren’t used at night… So if you’re ever delayed or arrive after sunset at Malé International Airport you’ll stay overnight in Malé until the morning for a flight out to the island. This goes for any seaplane travel to any resort. Don’t forget to have your camera ready for some Maldives pictures especially if it’s a clear day when you fly in. The island is shaped like a flattened teardrop with a white circle of sand enveloping the lush tropical centre of the island. The lagoon is broader and wider at the “tail end” yet shallow all round the island. There are 98 villas throughout the island and its waters. Discreetly set among the trees you wouldn’t think there were that many. The water villas of course curve out from the island and greet you as your seaplane comes into land. You’ll be pleased to know that all the villas and rooms come with private garden or terrace, open-air bathroom with shower, personal safe, mini bar, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer (you may of course prefer to bring your own I know Charley does). Beach Villas, Deluxe Beach Villas and lagoon villas all offering the above facilities.The Lagoon Palace Suite has a spacious bedroom and living room, private terrace with a sunken plunge pool. The bathroom with deluxe spa bath has an ocean view with complete privacy. You also have available, to ease the burden of island living in the twenty first century… an espresso machine, CD player, VCD and television as well as all the facilities provided in the other villas. The Sunset Lagoon Villa is as spacious as the Lagoon Palace with the addition of a fresh water plunge pool, butler and in-villa spa treatments on request. There are more than enough activities for you to enjoy on the Coco Palm Maldives Dhuni Kolhu resort if you feel like adventure and exertion! Try the dive centre or have a go in the gym or fitness centre. If you have the energy then badminton, tennis, volleyball are available on land, with snorkelling and waterskiing‚ canoeing, sailing and windsurfing all there for you on the warm waters of the Indian ocean. 
The daily excursions by boat include dolphin watching and island picnics. Check when you book with your chosen travel agent which excursions come with your Maldives vacation package and those you will have to pay for separately. Excursions are on a first come first serve basis so always try to book on arrival. Why not a picnic on a desert island? Dropped off late morning with your hamper full of food for your castaway day… a cool box with white wine and water to quench the thirst… sit beneath a palm in the shade of gently swaying fronds, dappled sunlight and sand as fine as flour. The only sound a cork popping heard above the lapping of the waves… You’ll have the run of the island until late afternoon when a speedboat returns to collect you both. Take your snorkel and mask with you and sun lotion of course. Phil will tell you that this is a peachy way of spending the evening... He’s a bit of a movie fan and has sat in a roofless converted barn in the Kenyan desert watching kung fu movies with 400 others and in the back of coffee houses in New Zealand watching the best of NZ film on a whitewashed garden wall with banana trees for company.
